SCENE: It’s 2020. The world is shutdown and after getting past the initial wave of fears
concerning your family’s health and safety, the next dose of reality that hits is “How Are We Going To Pay Bills?”. Businesses are closed. Jobs are being furloughed. It was during this time I looked at my then 15 year old daughter (who happens to be my best friend) and had an idea. “We’re going to start a business together”, I said. I couldn’t tell if she took it seriously or not but the conversation continued and by the end we had a menu, mascots, ideas for tv ads and a name: Bad Chic Chicken & Waffles. For her, I’m sure it was just something cool to joke about with her Dad. For me, it was an opportunity as a Father to teach her how to turn her imagination into reality (and profits. lol). The lesson isn’t over for either of us. Since that day, we’ve been on a journey filled with lessons, mistakes, ups and downs, success and failure. Through it all, we’re still going.
